Kirloskar Solar, a part of the 136-year-old Kirloskar Group, has appointed Kochi-based GSL Energy Solutions as the Exclusive Project Partner for six districts in Kerala. The agreement was signed during a ceremony in Kochi by Mr. Suresh Simpson, South General Manager and National Head of Small Projects and Online Inverters at Kirloskar Solar, and Mr. Jackson Mathew, CEO of GSL Energy Solutions.
Under this partnership, the goal is to implement projects generating approximately 5 megawatts of solar power, worth around ₹25 crores, during the 2024-25 financial year. The collaboration will focus on commercial and residential solar projects in six districts: Ernakulam, Kottayam, Idukki, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, and Kollam.
Mr. Jackson Mathew, speaking at the event, highlighted that Kerala offers excellent potential for solar energy installations, considering the consistent sunlight during dry periods and the available subsidies. Currently, domestic solar projects ranging from 3 to 10 kilowatts are eligible for a subsidy of ₹78,000 from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Mr. Suresh Simpson assured that the investment can be recouped within five years and that Kirloskar Solar is committed to providing excellent after-sales service. The event was attended by around 100 entrepreneurs and professionals, including builders, architects, interior designers, and MEP engineers.
